Mi Mix 2: The bold & daring Xiaomi has a new flagship phone that’s stunning AF

Who could be more daring than Xiaomi who just launched their flagship phone just a day before Apple’s Big 10th Anniversary launch event?

But the Chinese smartphone maker isn’t holding back – and they have done it in total style by launching Mi Mix 2 –  a beautifully crafted, bezel-less smartphone with a decent price and top-of-the-range specs. For an Android fanboy, this is one heck a phone!

Like its predecessor, Mi Mix 2 comes with a big display but not as big as the last one. The new Mi Mix has a 5.99-inch display, which isn’t as big as 6.44-inch Mi Mix. However, the Mi Mix 2 is 11.9 percent smaller than its predecessor which makes it a lot sleeker and easy to hold on to. This was made possible by giving up on the piezoelectric speaker solution that came up with the original Mi Mix.

Inside the phone is a powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor – which is the standard flagship processor for most Android devices these days. Then, there’s a 6GB of RAM on board with multiple storage capacities of 64/128/256 GB.

But if you just can’t have enough of the Mi Mix 2, there’s even a special edition phone available in ceramic built, 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage.

But oddly, Mi Mix 2 only has a single 12-megapixel rear camera while Xiaomi’s many other devices now have a dual rear camera. In fact, the new Mi Note 3 that was launched alongside the Mi Mix 2 yesterday also has a dual, bokeh-capable camera, 5.5-inch display, 16 MP front camera and 3500 mAh battery.

Coming back to Mi Mix 2, it’s not going to cost a lot to its buyers with the base version costing only $506 (3299 RMB), 128GB for $552 and the 256GB variant coming at a price of $614.

The good news is that Mi Mix 2 will work pretty much in every market because of its 43 LTE bands – something, not even the original Mi Mix was equipped with. The launch date for Mi Mix 2 is September 15; however, there’s no news as of yet when the flagship device will be launched in other markets.
