It seems like Trump doesn’t think twice or take anyone’s consent before tweeting. This time, it could actually cost Trump his presidency for stepping too far. Why? For the obstruction of justice.
Well, let’s take a look at the entire picture.
This is what Donald Trump tweeted yesterday:
I had to fire General Flynn because he lied to the Vice President and the FBI. He has pled guilty to those lies. It is a shame because his actions during the transition were lawful. There was nothing to hide!
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) December 2, 2017
This might seem like Trump was just making an innocuous statement about a man who has been accused of lying to FBI but the reality is far from that.
The post rather puts light on the fact that Trump knew all this time that Michael Flynn was lying. He said that he fired Flynn because he lied to the president of FBI, but, in fact, it seems he did that to obstruct the investigation that has been looking into his ties with Russia.
Prominent personalities quickly figured out that there was something wrong with Trump’s tweet. Walter Shaub, the former director of the US Office of Government Ethics, was amongst the first ones to tweet claimed how damaging this tweet from Trump could really be.
Tell us, @realDonaldTrump, did you know Flynn had lied to the FBI when Counsel to the President Don McGahn snubbed Yates as she tried to warn the White House Flynn had been compromised?
Did you know Flynn had lied to the FBI when you fired Yates days after her whistleblowing?

Others also gave their insight on Trumps’ tweet:
You just admitted
a. you knew he lied to the FBI
b. you thought that was no big deal
c. you tried to solve the problem by firing Comey
You know what that amounts to: Obstruction of Justice
What the fuck, America?

Even after all that, it seems like Trumps really doesn’t care about what’s happening around, as he is wilfully trying to defect from the matter.
Trump even went on to say that he didn’t order Comey to stop investigation Flynn even when he did. The president may not be ready to admit but the ground under his feet has started to shrink. Sooner or later, Trump’s tweets are going to put him down.
